ADOS Evaluation

Understanding ADOS

An ADOS Evaluation is a structured and evidence-based assessment used to evaluate for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) is one of the most widely recognized tools for autism diagnosis.

This comprehensive autism evaluation includes behavioral observation, developmental history, and structured interaction activities designed to assess social communication and behavioral patterns.

For many individuals and families, an autism evaluation provides clarity, direction, and access to appropriate services and support.

Concerns You May Be Experiencing

You may notice challenges with peer interaction, delayed speech, repetitive behaviors, or sensory sensitivities.

You may recognize long-standing social difficulties, sensory differences, or patterns that align with Autism Spectrum Disorder and want formal confirmation.

Schools, employers, or service providers may require a diagnostic evaluation to provide accommodations or access to support.

You may have spent years feeling out of sync socially, struggling with sensory sensitivities, or masking in ways that are exhausting. A formal evaluation can offer language, validation, and a clearer understanding of your experience.

You sense something may be different, but feel unsure how to move forward without a comprehensive assessment.

You may have received an earlier assessment that didn’t fully capture your experience, or were assessed as a child before autism in adults was well understood. A comprehensive ADOS Evaluation can provide a more accurate and complete picture.

The importance of an aDOS evaluation

An ADOS Evaluation provides a clear and structured understanding of developmental and behavioral patterns. The process typically includes:

  • ADOS-2 administration
  • Developmental history review
  • Behavioral observations
  • Parent or caregiver interviews
  • A detailed diagnostic report
  • Post-evaluation consultation
  • Treatment recommendations and referrals

Following the evaluation, families and individuals receive guidance on next steps. This may include referrals for individual therapy, family counseling, parent training, school accommodations, or community resources.

At Aspen Counseling Services, our team ensures you understand the results and feel supported throughout the process.
