Hello, I am Adam Park, CMHC. My counseling background is very diverse. I have years of experience working with court ordered clients facing anything from drug and alcohol charges to domestic violence. I have taught psychoeducation classes with Prime for Life, Thinking Errors, and Anger Management. I work with people who have been victims of abuse and are taking back the power in their lives. I have also worked with perpetrators to help them learn how to break the cycle of abuse.
The motto that guides my life is “Are you tough enough to be kind?” This has led me in my counseling to work with men who are learning how to recognize their emotions and learn the strength of acknowledging their “whole” self. This recognition of their complete self allows for a strength to be developed that enables growth in all areas of their lives.
My hope, when working with women, is to help them know that their emotions and feelings embody their strengths and that their emotions are valid, and should not be dismissed. Women should feel unjudged and heard when expressing their feelings, and by expressing and validating those feelings this will help them find their internal strength and passions to help provide a true connection in any relationship, including the one with themselves.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Utah Valley University, emphasis on pre-med curriculum. While attending UVU, I was the President of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honors society and helped organize fundraisers for the Ronald McDonald House and local homeless shelters.
I received my master’s degree from Walden University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis on addiction. My love for the counseling process comes from the love of the journey of life with all its ups and downs. In my work with people who are facing addictions, I learned how important it is for a person to feel accepted for who they are, no matter where they are in life. I approach counseling as finding that safe place for my clients to heal and grow.
I have worked with adults with autism, impulse control issues and other intellectual disabilities for almost 20 years. Working with this diverse population has taught me how to meet the clients where they are. I work with couples trying to reconnect, men and women who face addictions with drugs, alcohol, or pornography, and teens and adults trying to find out who they are. I also work with LGBTQ individuals as they face unique challenges in their lives. Whatever journey you are on currently, I am here so that you do not have to go through it alone.
Outside of counseling my life revolves around my wife and kids. We enjoy anything we can do with each other from family vacation adventures, bonfires, and BBQ’s, to playing games with close friends and an outdoor movie in the backyard. Quality time and connection are what we find important.
The pursuit of knowledge about oneself promotes growth. I continually strive to learn the best ways to help my clients.
