Joleene Watabe is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor who has worked with adolescents, adults and couples for more than 10 years to help them feel more empowered and create the changes they want. She specializes in trauma counseling and treating grief. She has experience with religious issues and with the LGBTQ+ population, especially parents whose children have recently identified. She is also able to treat mood disorders, anxiety, self-esteem issues and addictions. She has experience in working with couples to overcome the barriers to connection they are experiencing and to help them create the relationship that they want.
Joleene is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Grief Counseling. She is also experienced and trained in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy – a values-based approach) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).
Each client is a unique individual and a treatment plan specific to each person is developed in order to help them improve their life and overcome any blocks they may be experiencing.
Joleene was born and raised in Southern California and has also lived in Japan, Ohio and Utah, prior to moving to California. She became licensed as a counselor in Ohio where she attended Xavier University and received the degree of Master of Arts in Community Mental Health Counseling. She was married for 26 years before her husband passed away in an accident. She has four beautiful children that continue to bring her joy.
