Kimberly Jackson is an alumnus of Utah Valley University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Family Science and Substance Use Disorder Counseling. Kimberly is a graduate student in the Master of Social Work program at UVU. She is a proud blended family Mother to nine children. She loves gardening, camping and cooking.
She has spent 10 years serving the addiction recovery community serving in both inpatient and outpatient services. She has been trained to provide trauma informed, gender responsive services to individuals and families. She currently serves on a treatment team with the Utah Department of Corrections providing recovery services to the justice involved, partnered with community services for wrap around support. She is dedicated to helping break generational cycles of addiction, trauma, violence, and incarceration in Utah.
Kimberly takes a client centered approach prioritizing empathy, compassion, self-determination and integrity. She is committed to respecting the dignity and worth of each of her clients. She believes in supporting individuals and families through evidence-based modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. These modalities are effective in managing symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief, loss, stress, lack of motivation, and relapse prevention.
During treatment, Kimberly believes in partnering with clients to set client driven treatment goals. Through CBT education, she teaches safe coping skills for emotional regulation, conflict resolution, problem solving, boundary setting, mood management, and relapse prevention. She seeks to empower her clients through setting SMART goals and establishing self-care habits and routines that support healing and wellness.
