Regina Brunner
ACMHC
Available in the Highland Office and over Teletherapy
Regina’s career story started as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2013 when she started working with the elderly, their loved ones, and those dealing with Alzheimer’s and dementia. In 2017, Regina graduated from the University of Northern Colorado and, for four years, worked as a Registered Nurse in surgical nursing and, eventually, hospice. Her favorite parts of caregiving and nursing involved listening to her client’s life stories and being present for them during life’s transitions.
She graduated in 2024 from Concordia University Irvine with her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is now working as an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor. She has experience working with clients healing from trauma: sexual, physical, emotional, and spiritual abuse. Additionally, both in her practicum and internship, she has worked with clients dealing with Addiction, Borderline Personality Disorder, Dissociative Identity Disorder, Cultural Issues, Client experiences of Racial Trauma, Bipolar, Depression, Anxiety, OCD, PTSD, Disordered Eating, Suicidal Ideation, Grief, and Loss.
Regina believes clients are resilient and can grow in self-esteem, identity, attachment, and individuation and find wholeness and purpose. She is curious about her client's culture and wants to respect their worldview and beliefs. She believes her clients should feel heard, safe, and experience unconditional positive regard in therapy. Applying a person-centered approach, Regina incorporates the Townsend Growth Model, Internal Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. In her free time, Regina enjoys running, reading, cooking, catching up with friends, and spending time with her wonderful husband.
